Diagnostic Assessments
The assessment process involves gathering information from parents, the individual and schools before undertaking the formal assessment.
The report will give a diagnosis of dyslexia, where appropriate, and will explain the strengths and difficulties of the learner.
Detailed recommendations for ways to support the individual at home, school and beyond are explained.
Diagnostic assessment reports can be used to guide targets for Individual Education Plans (IEPs). They can provide evidence for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), for Access Arrangements in exams (extra time or a scribe for example), and for the Disabled Student Allowance at University (DSA.)
Most importantly, they can improve the self-esteem and confidence of an individual through a better understanding of their difficulties.
I hold an APC from Patoss (Assessment Practising Certificate).

Individual tuition
Lessons are usually for one hour in our large kitchen where there is plenty of space for moving around and multisensory learning. Targets are decided at the beginning of each term and are personalised to the individual needs of the child.
Some of the areas I can help with are: Reading, Writing, Spelling, Maths, Touch typing, Telling the Time.
I keep in regular contact with parents and teachers to make sure everyone is working together for the best outcome.

Study Skills
Students often need help with the extra demands of secondary school as they are faced with increased workload and a need to organise their time and study.
I can provide strategies and techniques to help with revision, note taking, organisation, time management, planning, structuring extended writing and active reading.
It is important that the student feels listened to and empowered to become an indpendent learner who has good study skills in place to face the challenges of public exams at school and beyond.
